CAN I CHANGE BENEFITS DURING THE YEAR?

Due to IRS regulations, once you have made your elections for the plan year, you cannot change your benefits until the next annual Open Enrollment period. The only exception is if you experience a qualifying life event. Election changes must be consistent with your life event.

MOST COMMON QUALIFYING EVENTS TO CHANGE BENEFITS

• Marriage, divorce, or legal separation
• Birth or adoption of a child
• Change in child s dependent status
• Death of a spouse, child or other qualified dependent
• Qualified Medical Child Support Order
• Change in employment status or a change in coverage under another employer-sponsored plan
• Family member gains access to tax subsidy and coverage on the exchange
• Change in eligibility under Medicaid or CHIP or when first eligible for Medicare for employee or dependent
• Open Enrollment in a spouse s plan or enrollment in a Marketplace Exchange plan during the Exchange s annual enrollment perio
